About Turkeyfoot Creations™

Tim Trudgeon, alias “Trudge”, was born in 1947 in upstate New York.   As a young Cub Scout I was taught basic carving skills by my maternal grandfather.  Throughout my life I acquired the skills and joy of woodworking and indeed, built much of my home’s furnishings.  My love of woodcarving grew over the years but never really advanced beyond the novice level until I retired from government service.  I retired from air traffic control at the age of 55 which allowed me the time to develop my skill in woodcarving.  I am now at the stage where I am creating my own designs and artwork and have somewhat of a local following.  I have received many awards for my carvings in both woodcarving shows and artists competition.  I teach carving classes locally and fulfill leadership roles in four carving clubs.  I am a resident of northwestern Davie County, North Carolina, living in an area known as “Turkeyfoot”. Hence the name “Turkeyfoot Woodcarvings™" was born.  Turkeyfoot Woodcarvings is a division of my business “Turkeyfoot Creations™" which is a joint effort with my wife, Linda.

While my greatest enjoyment is creating amusing and whimsical caricatures of my own design, I have completed commission work for individuals and organizations requiring that “special” carving.  You can see some of these carvings in the “Commission Works” section.

When my two daughters were little, I was challenged by them on Halloween to carve a three dimensional face into one of our jack-o-lanterns.  For the last 25 years or so I have demonstrated this craft at many venues, including the North Carolina State Fair and the Museum of Appalachia in Norris, Tennessee.  Some of my pumpkin creations can be seen in the “Pumpkin Carvings” section.

About 1995, someone suggested I try carving golf balls.  I started carving three dimensional faces into golf balls and now enjoy a successful sales record with these carvings, fashioning desk pen sets, business card holders and bottle stoppers.  I have carved golf ball creations for golfer Arnold Palmer and Paul Teutel Sr. of American Choppers.  Some of my golf ball carvings can be seen in various sections of this website.

Regardless of the medium, carving is my passion.  I feel that I will be a perpetual student because I am constantly learning different techniques and styles from fellow carvers.  Through my participation in carving clubs, I am able to pass these ideas along to other wood carvers to enhance their enjoyment of this wonderful pastime.

As an “Old Timer”, I have been dragged kicking and screaming into the computer age.  After being convinced that perhaps I could enhance my carvings sale-ability by joining FaceBook, I had my first internet sale.  With the help of a computer savvy young friend, this web site was born.  (Let’s be honest, I was no help at all in this process other than giving him some information and saying uhuh, uhuh.)  I would like to hear your comments and suggestions on this site, as well as sell some of my creations.  Please contact me by email if you wish to purchase one of my carvings.  I can be reached at trudgeon@yadtel.net.
